*This article contains spoilers for the seventh episode of the second season of ‘Euphoria’.
The second season of ‘Euphoria’ is coming to an end (unfortunately), and after the crazy 2×07 many balls remain in the air. One of the most commented is what fate will hold for Fezco (Angus Cloud). The lovable camel that has hit it off with Lexi is threatened on several fronts and his future looks bleak, which fans of the series are very concerned about.
In the seventh episode we see how Lexi asks Fezco to go see her play, ‘Our Lives’. “I saved you the best seat in the room”Cassie’s sister tells him. Fezco accepts the invitation more than delighted, he gets very handsome in a suit and even buys some flowers for the debutant playwright. But he finally does not appear in the function. What could have happened to him?
Well, it is not yet known, but there are several possible threats. For starters, in 2×06 we learned that Custer (Tyler Chase) is acting as a police informer to frame Fezco and his little brother Ahstray (Javon ‘Wanna’ Walton). In this episode, Custer arrives at Fezco’s house and asks Faye (Chloe Cherry), who knows what is going on, to calm down. Are the police about to arrive?
Recall that in the first episode of the season Ashtray killed Mouse, another drug dealer he and Fezco were doing business with, and Custer worked for. If the police want to find a culprit, it is likely that Fezco will end up turning himself in to safeguard his brother’s innocence.
But the truth is that this situation can end badly on several fronts. In the last episode we’ve already seen the volatile Ashtray suspect something fishy is going on, and he could end up attacking Custer and/or Faye in a confrontation that could prove deadly for anyone involved.
Also, remember that another Sword of Damocles hangs over the character: Laurie, the drug dealer who left Rue a suitcase full of $10,000 worth of drugs. Rue finally lost the drugs and never returned the money, and it was Fezco who introduced Rue to the drug dealer’s house and even said that he put her hand in the fire for her. That Laurie is going to try to punish someone and get her money back is more than clear, but will it be against Rue or against Fezco?
The point is that we know that only a force majeure reason could have prevented Fezco from appearing in Lexi’s role. Will he be dead? arrested? Or prevented in some other way? We’ll see next Monday.
the signs are there
Will Sam Levinson have the cool blood to kill off one of the public’s favorite characters? Well the answer is: probably yes. In fact, the creator had planned to kill Fezco in the first season, as the actor himself revealed to GQ recently: “I guess the character of Fezco was never meant to last. I don’t even know how. I never saw that script. No one ever told me anything. It was one day when we were shooting the pilot that I think Jacob said to me, ‘Oh, didn’t you know? Your character… ‘and he pretended to be shot in the head. And that never came to pass. I think they liked what I did and decided to keep me alive and let me show off.”.
Perhaps Levinson decided to extend Cloud’s stay in ‘Euphoria’ but kept his destiny for later… and of course, judging by the 2×08 promo, it doesn’t seem like Fezco is going to have an easy episode. In the video we see him suffer several times, shots interspersed with the image of a finger pulling the trigger of a gun and a police team entering a house by force.

If we want to grasp at straws, there are two signs that indicate that Fezco will be, at least, alive in the third season. One of them is that the actor celebrated the renewal of the series by HBO. The second is these statements that Maude Apatow, the actress who plays Lexi, has made in Entertainment Weekly: “I love working with Angus. I think he’s a great actor, and we had such a great time working together. So for selfish reasons, I hope we can do more scenes together because it’s fun.”.
What will happen, what mystery will there be? We’ll find out next week. The only thing that is clear is that if Fezco dies, Sam Levinson should be increasing the security of his house because the fans of ‘Euphoria’ are not kidding.
