The Sisters Hospitallers have developed a technological project to optimize and secure their data to improve their reception, assistance and care service for people with mental illness, intellectual disability and other illnesses.
This project has been developed by Econocom Nexica, a hybrid cloud service provider with more than 25 years of IT experience that, in turn, relies on NetApp technology to provide solutions for internal projects and those of its clients.
“The Sisters Hospitallers also have a NetApp platform in their own CPDs. Thus, by having NetApp technology in a main CPD and in a secondary CPD, we can replicate our data in a consistent and secure manner”, explains Óscar Zapata, commercial manager of the private sector at Econocom Nexica.

The congregation already had a technological infrastructure that housed all the data that supported its activity, but a need arose: since it is a hospital service, it needs to have its computer systems replicated.
In this way, in the event of an attack or disaster in its first CPD, the institution could recover its data in the second center, in a matter of minutes, without affecting its activity.

The emergence of covid-19
With the arrival and increase in cases of covid-19 in our country, health and socio-health care centers were totally overwhelmed.
The seriousness of the situation made the local, hybrid and 100% outsourced systems, which underlie the architecture of Sisters Hospitallers, allow them to respond to an unprecedented situation.
In this way, virtualized environments under a private cloud service offered something very necessary at that time, great scalability, which has allowed them to modulate their capacity at all times throughout the different waves of the pandemic.
In addition, another advantage of this project has been the optimization of the backup systems, always guaranteeing the assistance service, operational 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
