The Film Festival has returned this 2022 to encourage viewers that either they have not recovered the big-screen cinephile plan, or they cannot afford the usual price offered by theaters. As allies in this mission, this event has had quite juicy films, such as ‘The Man from the North’, ‘Fantastic Animals: Dumbledore’s Secrets’, ‘The Lost City’ or ‘Alcarràs’, a display that will certainly have favored to a fairly discreet assistance in the case of this May edition.
Those 3.50 euros that the ticket costs have fallen short when it comes to seducing the publicbecause the 18th edition of the Film Festival has registered a total of 704,927 spectators, figure collected after the end of indoor masks, which is quite far from the one with which the event closed last year. That “I’m going to the movies”, which was held with capacity restrictions, managed to attract 964,000 spectators. Despite this drop, The Film Festival has already set its next dates: October 3, 4 and 5.
And what movies will be on the billboard then? ’42 seconds’, a Spanish film based on the true story of the Spanish water polo team, and starring Jaime Lorentey Álvaro Cervantes, would already be in theaters. They will also have premiered ‘Dark Harvest’, a horror film directed by David Slade (‘Hard Candy’); ‘Retribution’, the umpteenth action tape headed by Liam Neeson, and ‘Ticket to Paradise’, romantic comedy starring George Clooney and Julia Roberts.
Do not worry dear
Of course, the romance that reunites George Clooney and Julia Roberts on the big screen aspires to have a pull at the Film Festival, but it faces two tough contenders. If ‘After. Amor Infinito’ has the success of its predecessors, it managed to hold out in theaters after its premiere at the end of August, becoming a great attraction for a young audience.
But the most notable film is undoubtedly ‘Don’t worry, dear’, with Florence Pugh and Harry Styles. Olivia Wilde returns to directing after her brilliant debut behind the cameras of ‘Super Nerds’, and he does it with a science fiction psychological thriller in which he also has a leading role, and that completes its cast with Chris Pine, the film’s villain, Gemma Chan, Nick Kroll, KiKi Layne, Kate Berlant and Douglas Smith. It is one of the most anticipated movies of the year. Will it become the most popular option at the next Film Festival?
