New changes in the release schedule of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Two of the upcoming Phase 4 movies have swapped their respective theatrical arrival dates.. Until now, ‘The Marvels’ was going to be released on February 17, 2023 and ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ would do the same on July 28 of next year.
Now it will be ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ which will be released in February and the sequel to ‘Captain Marvel’ will do so in July. According to Variety, there is no reason for this dance of dates other than that Peyton Reed has more work in progress than Nia DaCosta. The third installment of Ant-Man would have already finished main filming and ‘The Marvels’ would not, hence the change, which does not seem to affect the development of Phase 4 in general.
This is the Marvel calendar
The marvelite calendar in theaters would be as follows. In a few days, on May 6, ‘Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness’ will hit theaters. It will be followed by ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ on July 8. ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’, in theaters on November 11, will be the last MCU movie we will see this year. Next year, ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ will arrive first on February 17, followed by ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ on May 5 and ‘The Marvels’ on July 28.
‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ is again directed by Peyton Reed and will again feature Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer in the main cast. The main novelty is that it will present Kang the conqueror, played by Jonathan Majorswhom we already saw play a variant of the character in the first season of ‘Loki’.
‘The Marvels’, meanwhile, will once again have Brie Larson in front as Captain Marvel, but this time she will be accompanied by Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani), whom we will meet in the Disney+ series ‘Ms. Marvel’, and by Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris), one of the great surprises of ‘Scarlet Witch and Vision’. The director of ‘Candyman’ debuts at UCM with this film.
