Amazon Prime Video has made public for everyone the trailer for ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ that debuted a few days ago on the streaming platform and that only those who had an Amazon Prime subscription could see. Again, it’s just a one-minute preview in which we don’t discover many new details of the plot, but it does have a very, very epic air:
The series based on the work of JRR Tolkien has been developed by JD Payne and Patrick McKay, and will take us back to Middle-earth, only long before the One Ring crossed paths in the life of Bilbo Baggins. The action will take place in the Second Age, thousands of years before the events of ‘The Hobbit’.
When we return to this world of elves, dwarves and other fantastic races we will find it in a time of calm, but evil begins to rise in the distance. We will witness the forging of the Rings of Power, and also the last alliance between humans and elves. We will meet again with Elrond (Robert Aramayo) and Galadriel (Morfydd Clark), and we will discover the story of the legendary Isildur (Maxim Baldry).
Amazon’s plans with ‘The Lord of the Rings’
Juan Antonio Bayona has been in charge of directing the first two episodes of ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ in New Zealand. The first will premiere on Friday, September 2 on Amazon Prime Video, and a new one will arrive on the platform every week. The first season will consist of eight episodes, and the series has already been renewed for a second, which will be shot in the UK. According to plans, the series would reach five seasons.
