‘The Batman’ gets the best premiere of the year at the Spanish box office, and the second best of the pandemic

Superheroes are still the kings of the box office, also in Spain. After a few weeks in which the wear of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ was noticeable, despite the surprise that ‘Uncharted’ has been, the total collection of the weekend in our country shoots up again above 6 million eurosaccording to data from Comscore, with more than 900,000 viewers.

These figures have behind, of course, the Bat Man. Warner Bros. released “The Batman” in more than 370 theaters, a release very similar to “Uncharted” a month ago. But the vigilante has managed to unseat Tom Holland and has won the title of best premiere of the year at the Spanish box office, at least for now. It does so with 3.4 million euros, an average of 9,000 euros per cinema and almost 500,000 spectators in its first weekend. It is also the second best premiere in times of the pandemic, falling well behind the 7.3 million euros of the first weekend of the wall-crawler last December. The previous solo Batman film, ‘The Dark Knight Rises’, debuted in July 2012 with 3.4 million euros, the same as Robert Pattinson’s film. The good reception of the film augurs a fruitful journey. Even ‘Fantastic Animals: Dumbledore’s Secrets’ will not have competition, at least on a premiere scale, and even so it remains to be seen if the wizards are capable of cutting the bat’s wings.

‘Uncharted’ suffers the arrival of Batman and falls to second position, but it holds up quite well being its fourth week in theaters. It falls 43% compared to the previous weekend, adding 813,500 euros to a total of 9.3 million euros. A fantastic number.

‘Death on the Nile’ continues to add little by little and already exceeds 2.5 million euros in total after three weeks. This time it achieves a box office of 418,921 euros. Still far from ‘Murder on the Orient Express’.

‘Ainbo, the warrior of the Amazon’, drops to fourth position but continues to benefit from the lack of competition, falling only 1% compared to the previous weekend. Add 334,153 euros to a total of 2.5 million euros. A hit for Flins and Pinículas.

In fifth position, he holds on, and is already in his 11th week, ‘Sing 2!’. It’s holding up great, also benefiting from being one of the few family options right now that aren’t also streaming, and its total is close to 9 million euros. They are not the 15.8 million of ‘Sing!’, but it is one of the best figures of the season.

‘The Batman’ has crushed the rest of the week’s premieres, which were already scarce because few were going to face the Bat Man. The only one that sneaks into the top 20 is ‘A hero’ by Asghar Farhadiwhich achieved ninth position with 79,700 euros and an average of 781 euros per cinema.

Zombies, kaffirs and Cyrano de Bergerac

This week the Telecinco Cinema film ‘Malnazidos’ finally hits theaters, which has accumulated several date changes. Also making their debut is ‘Cyrano’, starring Peter Dinklage, ‘The Worst Person in the World’, nominated for Best International Film and Best Original Screenplay at the Oscars, and the scumbags from ‘Jackass’ return to the fray with ‘Jackass Forever’.
