The Academy leaves awards out of the 94th ceremony

The one of this next gala on March 27 will be, according to an exclusive from The Hollywood Reporter, the decision of the Academy to eliminate several awards from the transmission. Instead, the awards will be handed out before the broadcast, something the Academy first attempted in 2018. However, the idea was soon changed due to industry backlash.

The decision comes as the Academy seeks to reinvigorate the ceremony. Last year’s 93rd edition recorded the lowest ratings in its history with just over 10 million viewers. This year will also see the return of the hosts, with Amy SchumerWanda Sykes and Regina Hall ready to share the role. As the public knows, the Oscars have chosen to give up emcees for the last three years since kevin hart he resigned from the position just days before the 2019 year ceremony.
