The 2023 Star Wars Celebration will take place in April and the chosen site is London

The coronavirus pandemic took Star Wars Celebration away from us in 2020 and had to be postponed for two years. The most important convention in the galaxy far, far away reunited with fans in 2022 and has arrived with fresh news that promises ‘Star Wars’ for a while. And although everything comes to an end and the convention said goodbye last Sunday, Lucasfilm is already planning the next one. The chosen site is confirmed: the 2023 Star Wars Celebration will be held in London.

It was on the last day of the Celebration that those responsible announced that the next edition would be held at the ExCel Exhibition Center in London. And not only that, but It was also announced that the event will take place in less than a year, from April 7 to 10, 2023.. The famous London center will welcome ‘Star Wars’ fans for the third time which, together with the one held in 2013 in Germany, will be the fourth time that the Celebration lands in Europe. Except for the 2008 edition that was held in Japan, the rest of the years have been held in the United States.

Since its creation in 1999, the Star Wars Celebration has had a total of 14 editions. The time that has passed between them has been varying, being irregular as a general rule. The fourth edition in the US and the first edition in Europe took place in May and July 2007, respectively. Later, the one held in Anaheim, the third in Europe and the one held in Orlando had a lapse of less than 3 years.

To say goodbye to the 2022 edition, we will briefly review everything announced during these days at the Star Wars Celebration by Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, Jon Favreau and company. to open mouth, Lucasfilm released the trailer for the new ‘Andor’ series, focused on the character of Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) and that will narrate the origin of the spy and his relationship with the Rebellion before ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’. The series will arrive on Disney+ on August 31 this year.

Continuing with the series, they could not make the fans wait any longer: The third season of ‘The Mandalorian’ will hit the platform in February 2023. We will meet again with Din Djarin (who returns to his home planet), Grogu, Bo-Katan and as a star appearance Babu Frik’s return to the saga was confirmed, after his successful debut in ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’. Another of the star series that had an advance was ‘Ahsoka’, with Rosario Dawson repeating in the role of Anakin’s Padawan. It will also arrive in 2023 and will feature characters seen in the ‘Star Wars Rebels’ animated series such as Sabine Wren (played by Natasha Liu Bordizzo). Once what was already known was discussed, two new series were announced that had only been rumored. The first was ‘Skeleton Crew’, starring Jude Law and directed by Jon Watts. The second, a new series of animated short films that goes back to the time of the prequels: ‘Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi’.

In addition to the preview of ‘Indiana Jones 5’ and the trailer for the new ‘Willow’ series, ‘Star Wars’ announced that it was returning to movie screens. He will do it with Taika Waititi as director and with forecasts to be released at the end of 2023, although not much more is known due to the preference that Lucasfilm is giving to its television fiction.
