‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ breaks a new record: digital sales in its first week

‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ can’t stop breaking records. From beating ‘Avatar’ at the box office, to having the actors who have played a Marvel character for the longest time or pulverizing ‘Avengers: Endgame’ in pre-sale tickets, now the film starring Tom Holland is also sweeping the digital market.

According to Deadline, after only one week on sale for $19.99 digitally, 88 days after its theatrical release, electronic sales already exceed 42 million dollars, which is equivalent to about 2.1 million copies, a record for Sony, Marvel Studios and for the entire industry. At the domestic box office, the Jon Watts-directed film is expected to exceed $800 million raised between Saturday or Sunday March 26/27, which would leave it in third place in the historical ranking, only behind ‘Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens’ (936.6M) and ‘Avengers: Endgame’ (858.3M). Globally, ‘No Way Home’ has already amassed more than 1.88 billion dollars, although it is still in theaters in many parts of the world.
