SAP Spain has presented a new deployment, of what will be Cepsa’s first public cloud project, with which it will obtain important advantages such as improved efficiency and promotion of process automation.
Cepsa had already presented in 2022 a new strategic plan for 2030, ‘Positive Motion’, with which the company wants to be a leader in sustainable mobility, biofuels and green hydrogen in Spain and Portugal, and become a benchmark in the energy transition.
“We are very satisfied to see how more and more companies are making the leap to the public cloud with our solutions, with the aim of innovating, having the latest news and, increasingly, promoting sustainability”, explains Ignacio Martínez, director of the Energy and Natural Resources Industries at SAP Spain.

For this reason, they found in SAP S/4HANA Cloud, the business management solution that met the requirements they are looking for, and in Sothis the ideal partner to carry out the deployment quickly and safely. It was carried out remotely, in a record time of five months.

Now, users of Cepsa’s Renewables business can manage all the necessary operations such as materials management, finances and controlling or real estate assets on a single standard platform.
The improvement in efficiency has been quickly demonstrated. In addition, processes are improved thanks to RPA, which is updated quarterly.
Other advantages obtained by the company have been a 50% reduction in the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) with respect to the previous solution and very easy maintenance. In addition, the use of paper has been eliminated thanks to the automation of processes. The good results obtained can make it the model to be followed by other companies.
The next step that Cepsa Renovables will take in its alliance with SAP is the acquisition of SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP) as a technology platform.
