Ready for the second (and final) season of ‘Hunters’? Few series finales in 2020 left us as upset as that of the first season of ‘Hunters’. The Amazon Prime Video series had a denouement full of unexpected narrative twists and surprises, false identities and resurrections of the story, in what was possibly one of the most daring series of the season. It is not a novelty for the ‘streaming’ platform, which with series such as ‘Undone’, ‘Good Omens’ or ‘Too old to die young’ has positioned itself as the brand that risks the most (in form and substance) with its productions originals.

Created by David Weil and produced by Jordan Peele (‘Let me out’), this series with ‘Tarantino’ airs tells us how a group of Nazi hunters set out to do justice to the exiles of the Third Reich who hid in the United States through what is known as Operation Paperclip. Thus, we immerse ourselves in the New York of the 70s, but not with the true judicial crusades of real characters like Simon Wiesenthal (who comes to appear in a scene from the series), but with a bloody hunt that belongs entirely to fiction. and that it seems like a reckoning with an unfair history.

Also from fiction will come the great threat of the show: the nazis have come together to create a Fourth Reich on American soiland only the group led by concentration camp survivor Meyer Offerman (Al Pacino) and with a new rookie member, Jonah (Logan Lerman), can do something about it.

‘Hunters’, season 2: cast

The cast flies alone led by Logan Lermanwho will return in the second season with Josh Radnor, Jerrika Hinton, lena olin, greg austin, Tiffany Boone, louis ozawa Y Kate Mulvany. And Al Pacino? Well, we know what happened to his character, but it seems that he will have a presence in the second installment.

Of course, there will also be new characters. Amazon has announced a great signing: Jennifer Jason Leigh. With her being a ‘Tarantinian’ actress after ‘The Hateful Eight’ (for which she was nominated for an Oscar), she makes all the sense in the world. As reported by Deadline, Leigh will play Chava, a leading Nazi hunter, in a starring role that seeks to fill the veteran void left by Pacino.

Although in that role we will also have another veteran: Udo Kier, who will give life to Adolf Hitler.

‘Hunters’, season 2: synopsis

There’s no official synopsis or plot for the new season yet, but we do know what questions it will have to answer for those who enjoyed the first season.

After the finale, the fates of the entire cast of characters parted ways. On the one hand we have the group of hunters, which has been drastically reduced after the death of Meyer Offerman (who turned out to be the Nazi The Wolf impersonating the real Meyer and seeking redemption for his crimes) in the hands of Jonah, who has now assumed leadership.

In the last scene of the season, only Sister Harriet (who we still don’t know, for example, with whom she shares those mysterious phone calls), Roxy Jones and Lonny Flash remain at the table. It seems that they will continue with the task that they had started and will pursue Nazis throughout the United States, or perhaps beyond its borders, such as agent Millie Morris (who will possibly form her own group of hunters, as offered by a senator).. Will it create a war between hunters? Will Millie follow in Jonah’s footsteps to bring him to justice? Will there be many trips to Europe by both teams?

The last of the members, Joe, had a much hectic season finale, and one with serious consequences ahead. With the we discover that The General is actually Adolf Hitler (who did not commit suicide when he lost the war, but fled to Argentina), and that the plan to establish a Fourth Reich is still in progress. The Hitler Youth sit at the table and we can only ask ourselves: what is the role of the prisoner in all this history? Why have they kidnapped him and why are they keeping him alive? We have no doubt that it is part of his evil plan, which we do not know at the moment. And also: How will the violent Travis fit into his plans? The last time we see him he is in jail, earning the respect of his coworkers when he murders his Jewish lawyer. His plan is to indoctrinate all these angry men and turn them into a neo-Nazi army. It sounds too realistic.
