After two and a half years since its launch, Disney + has revolutionized the Marvel Cinematic Universe and that of ‘Star Wars’ with a lot of series and projects that are to come exclusively for the platform. Among them The Mandalorian’ or ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ on the galactic side with ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ on the dot and ‘Andor’ in process; and on the superhero side, ‘Scarlet Witch and Vision’, ‘Loki’, ‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ and now ‘Moon Knight’ stand out. According to The Hollywood Reporter, which has made the count, between the two franchises they now add a total of nine seasons in eight series (six live action and two animated) and a total of 75 episodes. For now.
The medium has also published a study with the platform’s viewing data that reveals that the most attractive to the public are ‘The Mandalorian’ and ‘Loki’, and each one can be considered the most viewed in its own way. On the one hand, Lucasfilm’s space adventure starring Pedro Pascal is the unquestionable leader, as it accumulated 14.5 billion minutes played in 2021 (during the broadcast of the second season), 8.4 billion of them, that is, the majority, during its premiere weeks. On the other hand ‘Loki’ seems to have made a bigger impact with 5.23 billion minutes of viewing time with only 6 episodes in total and it was the first (and only, so far) Marvel series to surpass 1 billion minutes in a single week. So while ‘The Mandalorian’ wins in views, ‘Loki’ fares better with an average of 872 million minutes watched per episode.
And those that have worked worse
On the other side of the scale are ‘Hawk’s Eye’ with 3.46 billion minutes played and ‘The Book of Boba Fett’, which fluctuated in audience and ended up adding only 4.4 billion minutes and mixed reviews.
The next premieres of both universes are ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ on May 27 (it has been delayed two days), ‘Ms. Marvel’ on June 8 and ‘Moon Knight’ has just started, so we have to follow its weekly broadcast.
