Ghostwire: Tokyo is the new project from the creators of The Evil WithinTangoGameworks. Kenji Kimura, the director of this open world action adventure, has spoken in an interview with Wccftech of the duration of the title that comes the March 25 to PS5 and PC. Players will be able to immerse themselves in this ghostly Tokyo between 15 and 40 hours, depending on the creative.
“As for the duration of Ghostwire: Tokyowe believe that carrying about 15 hours just completing the main missions,” says Kimura. “If you want to play and enjoy all the side questsdepending on your skill level, will probably take you the double this time or more. And we could say about 30 or 40 hours of gameplay if you wanted to do all the secondary content.”
Tango thinks that it is not an open world game
In the same interview, the game director argues why don’t they consider it an open world title: “Depending on your vision of what an open world game is this could change, but for us, we think this is a action adventure with a map style sandbox, with a mystery that you will want to solve by exploring the city. With that in mind, it probably wouldn’t fit into the open world genre, but that’s our opinion.”
In relation to this, Kimura has explained that they have built Tokyo to “make it fun, just walking around and exploring the city”. That is why they have opted for an atmosphere that is more disturbing than terrifying: “We didn’t want to prohibit exploration. We wanted to promote it. And therefore, we didn’t want to make it too stressful for the player to explore.”
On Vandal we were able to play thoroughly first two chapters of Ghostwire: Tokyo and we tell you what we thought of our impressions. Although the structure of its open world has not fully convinced us and its combat has not yet taken off, the recreation it makes of the Japanese city, its culture and its folklore has pleased us very much.
