As organizations continue to migrate to the cloud, their dependence on partners and third parties increases, which in turn compounds the risk of threats throughout the supply chain.
So it reveals, Proofpoint in his studio Cloud and Web Security Challenges (2022) on the challenges of web and cloud security in collaboration with the (CSA), where I know indicates that organizations are struggling to achieve sufficient security in environments.

81% of organizations surveyed are moderately to very concerned about the risks surrounding partners and suppliers. Also, 48% are especially concerned about the possible loss of data as a result of these risks.
This high level of concern is fully justified, with 58% of organizations reporting that third parties and vendors have been the subject of a cloud security breach during 2021.
Cloud Migrations Increase Threat Risk in the Supply Chain
The report further highlights that data protection is rightly a top concern for businesses, with 47% citing “loss of sensitive data” as the most worrying consequence of cloud and web attacks. .
Other main conclusions include:

- 58% of respondents have been affected by a security breach in the cloud from a third party, contractor or partner.
- Organizations are concerned that cloud applications under attack contain or give access to data such as email (36%), authentication (37%), file storage or sharing (35%), customer relationship management customers (33%) and business intelligence (30%).
- Nearly half of respondents (47%) see managing legacy systems as the top concern in their cloud security strategy, while 37% believe they need to guide employees toward more secure behavior.
- Only a third (36%) of organizations surveyed have a dedicated data loss prevention (DLP) solution. Other solutions implemented are endpoint security (47%), identity management (43%) and access privilege management (38%).
