Apple apparently intends to drop the notch on the iPhone 14 Pro, but there is no complete report on its new design yet. Now a well-known whistleblower explains that the tech giant will use a circular and capsule-shaped aperture in its phone at the same time.
Display analyst Ross Young claims in a new report that Apple will use a circular aperture and a tablet-like notch on the top of the iPhone 14 Pro models. According to him, the circular aperture of these phones will be for the Face ID point projector, and it will accommodate a tablet-like notch, at least a selfie camera and an Face ID infrared camera.
He also shared a concept image of the design, which shows a disc-shaped notch on the left and a circular aperture on the right.
No Face ID under display on iPhone 14 Pro
Despite this design, it seems quite unlikely that the iPhone 14 Pro will be equipped with Face ID under the display. Ross Yang also tweeted that Apple will probably not use Face ID technology under the display until 2023 or 2024, although it can be expected that the iPhone 15 Pro or 16 Pro will be equipped with this feature.
Well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Koo said earlier this year that the iPhone 2023 would likely come with Face ID technology under the display.
It should also be noted that this new design has been announced for the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro and 6.7-inch Pro Max, which will probably be introduced in the fall of next year. Apple is expected to continue to launch the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 and the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max with the notch at the top of the screen.
