Spain is a country of digital creators, well above other countries around us. A study carried out by Adobe shows that, since 2020, the creator economy has grown exponentially in all markets around the world, with significant growth in EMEA markets, but especially in Spain, where it has grown by 10 millions of creators. Germany saw an increase of 9 million, while France and the UK saw an increase of 8 million creators.
The economy of the creators is prosperous and plural
As far as the constituents of the creator economy are concerned, we find that millennials they make up more than two-fifths (42%) globally, a figure that has risen to 45% in the UK and 44% in Germany. By comparison, Generation Z represents 14% of creators worldwide, considering that this figure has increased to 16% in France and dropped to 12% in Germany.
In addition, it is shown that one in four people (23%) are creators who contribute to spaces on-line, of which almost half (48%) are motivated globally by the same goal: freedom of expression. Meanwhile, only a third of creators (26%) are motivated by money.
On the other hand, influencers they represent just 14% of the global creator community, dropping to 9% in Spain and rising to 15% in Germany and 17% in the UK.
Redefining the future of work
The digital creator economy has opened up a range of new full-time and part-time career possibilities, especially for Gen Z and millennials, who are drawn to less traditional careers. The study reveals that content creation can be lucrative, but it takes time and commitment to succeed, and while it remains a side business for most, many creators aspire to continue doing more. In fact, while only 17% of creators have their own business, 39% aspire to start a creative business at some point. Six out of ten creators have full-time jobs.
Digital creators seize the opportunity to spark conversations around social causes online, with the vast majority (95%) taking action to promote or support causes that are important to them.

Food and home security (62%), social justice (59%) and climate change (58%) top the list of causes that are most important to creators around the world, who believe that through their creativity and influence can boost awareness (51%), give a voice to those who might not otherwise have one (49%) and facilitate the expression of opinions around social causes (47%).
Creators and mental health
The study reveals that the more time creators spend creating and sharing content, the happier they feel. Quite the opposite of consumers of social networks, who, according to various studies, may experience negative effects as a result of their use.
Creators who create content daily and/or spend more than 10 hours a week creating are generally the happiest. The majority of creators (69%) and influencers (84%) say that creating and sharing content on-line it’s a creative outlet they can’t find anywhere else. Meanwhile, 1 in 2 influencers say that using social networks or creating content for them is more important for their mental health than exercising (30%), listening to music (31%) and going out in nature (27%).
