Hybrid work has brought with it a paradigm shift, and after the pandemic, companies have rethought the priorities of their IT teams. This is demonstrated by the survey, The State of ITSM Two Years Into the COVID-19 Pandemic, from ManageEngine.
The study reveals that one of the great challenges faced by companies after the imposition of this work model is, in 46%, the management of computer assets, followed by communication and collaboration with 41%.
“Self-organizing teams, high-speed workflows, and a digital-first approach to customer experience are hallmarks of the new era, democratized IT,” explains Kumaravel Ramakrishnan, Evangelist at ManageEngine.
Hybrid Work Challenges
Other data from the study shows that the most significant change in reported challenges was a drop from 36% to 22% in securing company and customer data on a distributed network.
This change is likely the result of proactive efforts by IT teams to ensure the risks of remote work are minimized.
In Spain, unfortunately, the data are less optimistic. According to a Ricoh study, only one in five employees have observed a hybrid work policy at their company. Additionally, less than half say they see collaboration technology in meeting rooms that enables hybrid working.

The problem is obsolete technology and work environments, this lack of adaptability slows down the implementation of more flexible work models. This lack of a clear strategy for implementing hybrid work will create friction among employees, which will negatively impact productivity.
Other key findings of the report
● Employees are better equipped: Compared to the start of the pandemic, an additional 47% of organizations are providing mobile assets to employees.
● IT teams see their value increase: 52% of respondents believe IT teams are now seen and treated better due to the pandemic, and another 14% think IT teams have always been highly valued .
● BYOD Policies Still Absent: Two years after workplaces were turned upside down, 40% of organizations still don’t have a BYOD policy.
● User experience falls short: 34% of organizations still don’t offer users self-help capabilities, and 52% don’t have chatbots.
