There is a week left for the premiere of ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ and Marvel continues to reveal details about the sequel directed by Sam Raimi, in which we will see the Marvel Sorcerer facing the consequences of the rupture in the Multiverse in previous installments of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (‘Loki’, ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’). The rumors around the film have only increased over the days, especially in regard to the cameos that we will see in it and especially the supergroup called The Illuminati.
Now, clearing up any doubts that could remain a few days before the premiere, a new spot for the film confirms the appearance of two characters that have been rumored since the promotional campaign beganand that we can now see (partially, yes) officially.
Since we could hear the voice of in the trailer for the Super Bowl of ‘Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness’, we were very clear that the film would have an appearance of the legendary actor again in the skin of the leader of the X-Men, Charles Xavier. Well, Marvel no longer intends to hide and the new spot, which you can see below, confirms that, indeed, Professor X is in the movie. Although, beware, it does not show us the actor’s face, but rather a detailed plan of his hand perched on a yellow wheelchair.
Another character that the brief preview confirms is another open secret: Captain Carter. Both because of the film’s connection with the animated series ‘What if…?’, which will clearly be very important for the film and where Peggy Carter was one of the central characters, and because of one of the official posters where we could see his hidden shield, we knew that the character would return to the MCU. And now she is 100% official. In the same way, we do not see Hayley Atwell’s face, but Carter appears from behind during a fight with Wanda, corroborating her identity by show us your shield with the British flag.
Finally, there is a third character that draws our attention from the spot. Also in a previous trailer, the appearance of a mysterious flying superhero sparked fan theories about her identity, with many pointing to Ultimate Iron Man. However, in this new clip, everything seems to indicate that it would be a variant of Maria Rambeau (Lashana Lynch) as a variant of Captain Marvel.
All this occurs in the context of the council of wise men that we had previously seen in other advances, where Stephen Strange will meet the Illuminati, so it is believed that these characters would be part of said supergroup that Strange must join to take on Scarlet Witch and save the Multiverse.
Is Marvel giving too much away?
With the Illuminati confirmed and the cameos of Captain Marvel and Professor X more than assured, Marvel continues to reveal secrets about the film before its imminent arrival in theaters around the world. Knowing them, we know that they are keeping more than one trick up their sleeve in the form of surprise appearances and multiversal connections (more mutants? Fantastic 4?), but one wonders: Are they uncovering too many secrets too soon?
We have very recently the case of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, to which many of us went knowing more than necessary (in this case because of the leaks, everything must be said), so it is logical that among the fans there is nervousness about it, since since the Multiverse was unleashed and the crossover possibilities skyrocketed, the element of surprise in the Marvel Universe is more important than ever.
‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ opens only in theaters on may 27th.
