On this, IBM today announced IBM Impact, a new framework to publicize its environmental, social and governance (ESG) work, which reflects how the company aspires to create a more sustainable, equitable and ethical future.
“The company’s employees have always dedicated their time, talent and technology to making a significant impact in the world, evolving the way they work over time to meet society’s most pressing needs,” explains Arvind Krishna, president. and CEO of IBM.
IBM Impact
The solution is made up of three pillars: Environmental Impact, Equitable Impact and Ethical Impact. These values have been integrated into the company’s corporate DNA and have driven its work towards its employees, stakeholders and the world in general during the last century:
– Environmental impact: IBM is committed to conserving natural resources, reducing pollution, and minimizing climate-related risks. This is reflected in the following IBM commitments:
- Achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.
- Divert 90% of non-hazardous waste from landfills and incineration by 2025.
- Start 100 projects with clients or research projects with environmental benefits by 2025.

– Equitable impact: IBM is creating spaces and opportunities for everyone. To increase diversity, equity and inclusion, the following goals have been set:
- Empower 30 million people of all ages with the new skills needed for the jobs of the future by 2030.
- Reach 4 million volunteer hours in 2025.
- Invest $250 million in training and new programs for people from disadvantaged backgrounds by 2025.
- Achieve that 15% of IBM’s first-tier suppliers are businesses classified as ‘Black-Owned’ in 2025.
– Ethical impact: IBM aspires to improve innovations, policies and practices that prioritize ethics, trust, transparency and, above all, responsibility. This is reflected in the following commitments:
- Reach 1,000 partners in its ecosystem trained in technology ethics by 2022.
- Continue to commit 100% of suppliers to solid practices.
- Continue with the salary modifier linked to diversity for senior positions.
