Techedge has developed together with MPI a new Kubernetes platform based on solutions of vmware and Dell that allows you to have your own platform with a lower TCO and that offers you greater performance, flexibility, scalability and the highest level of security.
Techedge has been working for years on the development of business applications based on container architecture, with a preference for Kubernetes as the main container technology. This has allowed him transform old and monolithic applications in other native cloud based on microservices, easier to maintain, more agile and that, in the long term, allow to reduce costs and be scaled in an unlimited way.
“When we started offering customers Kubernetes-based solutions and services as a new line of business, the use of public cloud platforms was very useful, but it was a difficult model to scale”, says Javier Palacios, director of operations for Techedge’s cloud services in Spain. “That is why we decided to look for our own container platform that would be more scalable and that would also offer us a more optimized cost than with public clouds.”
This new line of business has experienced tremendous growth in recent years, so it was necessary to go from a public cloud-based platform to a larger one, with many more containers and that needed specific adaptations, not only for the applications themselves, but in general for the entire model around the containers, both security and optimization as well as particularities for each of the clients, something that would be very difficult to do in public clouds.

After the implementation of VMware and Dell solutions by IPM, the biggest change has been the ease of deployment of new Kubernetes clusters, as well as the management of the entire platform thanks to VMware Tanzu. For its part, the Dell EMC VxRail solution, based on VMware vSAN, provides Techedge with resilient storage, with high performance, availability, flexibility and scalability, in addition to simplifying the management of the compute and storage environment, which is now fully unified. Finally, NSX-T offers the customer a higher level of security, automation and ease of network management, integrated management of firewall policies through Kubernetes, multi-tenant environment, and network visibility at the Pod level. kubernetes.
“The project has allowed us to have a container infrastructure much larger, increase our business and our income in this field, without increasing expenses as much as if we had deployed it in the public cloud”, comments Javier Palacios.
It is estimated that the new platform has led to a cost reduction of 30% compared to the public cloud, which also increases with volume, which means an improvement in ROI for this line of business as it grows. In addition, the ease of administration of the environment has made it possible to improve the security of workloads and have the same flexibility of the public cloud, without having to increase staff and being able to have total flexibility to adapt to the specific needs of customers. .
Techedge plans to expand its container platform in the coming months to continue growing in an area that is in high demand by its customers, such as application modernization, since modern and well-designed applications can help organizations with a wide range of goals and solve numerous problems.
