The MCU’s Sorcerer Supreme (well, ex-Sorcerer Supreme) is set to return to the title role in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.’ However, in Sam Raimi’s film he will have to share an adventure with what has become one of the fans’ favorite characters: Wanda Maximoff, Scarlet Witch.
Empire magazine has released a new photo of Elizabeth Olsen’s character, already fully wearing the look from the end of ‘WandaVision’, accompanied by statements from the producer, Richie Palmer, who advances that the film most likely answers the big question: which of the two sorcerers is more powerful? “Encountering Wanda Maximoff at the end of ‘Endgame’ would have been too much for Strange. Who would emerge victorious as the most powerful being in the universe? Maybe we’ll find out at the end of the movie“ it states. Place your bets!
Behind the scenes there is no competition. “It was exciting to do dialogue with him (Benedict Cumberbatch). I enjoyed our constant conversations and analysis to try and understand where the two characters are coming from.“ Olsen says. In addition to these two, the film features Wong (Benedict Wong), America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez), Christine Palmer (Rachel McAdams) and Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor).
Different definitions of madness
Richie Palmer has also commented on what madness the title of the film may be referring to: “Madness can have different definitions. Doctor Strange is driven mad by having to watch the love of his life marry someone else. And it drives Wanda crazy to be told ‘there is a book with a chapter that talks about you and that you should read, with secrets about yourself that you don’t even know'”. Will we finally discover what lies hidden within the pages of the Darkhold?
‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ premieres in theaters May 6.
